This technique allows the pigment to last for years. Most brows need freshened up in about 3 to 4 years. Lips just gradually fade, so whenever you want to change color or brighten them up, that when the touch-up should be done. Black eyeliner will last for years and years, possibly just fading to a charcoal. Lighter, softer eyeliner shades, may need a touch-up in about 3 years.

This client came to me after receiving permanent makeup from another technician in the area. Her lip liner was extremely crooked, her eyebrows were too long and spaced apart too much, and her eyeliner needed a touch-up. However, she had gone through so much discomfort, she did not want to go back to try to have the same technician repair this work.
